Swimming, Library, Shimmy, Shake, Repeat...

For the next few weeks we will be doing a few summer activities around here!

We signed James up for summer swim for 2 weeks (Monday-Friday 6:30-7pm) and today was the first session! He LOVED it! Not to mention he was so wiped out that he fell right to sleep after dinner (yay!)

Today the younglings were introduced to the water: make bubbles, kick a little, float on their back, etc. and during the next few sessions we will get into some basic swimming fundamentals.

Next week we kick off "Book Babies Storytime" at our local library on Mondays + Wednesdays. 30 minutes of songs, books, and a little dancing! The time goes by so quick and I love that James has his very own laminated name tag :)

I'm looking forward to all of this extra mommy-son time with my baby boy. I'm planning on soaking him up for the next 10 weeks, just us!



ps-can YOU believe Henry will be here in 10 short weeks?! Neither can I!

Summer, Summer, Summertime...

I'm Still Here...

Recap of my life these past few weeks:

  • The gallery was a huge success! Nothing like spending time with family & friends. Shocked I sold prints, but thankful for those of you that bought one!

  • GRADUATION!!! (heel click for all my fellow art historians... all 8 of you!)

  • Mini Vacation in San Diego with my boys!

As the dust begins to settle, I am currently:

  • Reading Bossypants (Tina makes my heart flutter with laughter)
  • Being intentional with my time- coffee dates/breakfast dates (Want to meet up? I'm free!)
  • Serving coffee for the masses.
  • Looking for a full time job that does not pertain to serving coffee for the masses.
  • Preparing my mind for GRE studying in July.

Last Weekend...

This past week went  by so fast I didn't get a chance to blog at all! So here are a few photos I took from all the exciting events that happened last weekend...

Friday Night: We finally got to see the new dragon in Fantasmic...let's just say I said "whoa" a lot.


Saturday evening: I surprised Mitch with floor level seats near foul ball/ home run territory. We loved it.


Sunday: Brandon & Amanda's wedding was so beautiful! We had such a great time. The best part? The photobooth...Oh, & the fact two of our friends became husband & wife, that was cool too.


& throughout the entire weekend...Teddy definitely got some love.

1) Learn to bake cheesecakes - for all the Fall/Winter holidays coming up!

2) Join the Student Rec Center's Gym- hoping to work off #1 :)

3) Buy all my fall textbooks & begin to read skim them

4) Start Crocheting again

5) Clean & Fix up our new home

6) Clean & Fix up our old home

7) YARDSALE (6-5-10...please come buy our old stuff!)

8) Read/ReRead: BIG GOD by Britt Merrick, Forgotten God by Francis Chan, Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer, The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis

9) Lifegroup & Lifegroup activities

10) Visit family whilst we camp at San Clemente State Beach

11) Shoot more.

1, 3, 4, 8 & 9 are still in the works. I have 12 days... let's do this!

PS-What I didn't expect this summer:
an internship & a visit to Warner Bros Studios to visit a friend from school. Wow. Seeing the Central Perk Coffeehouse... a life long dream fulfilled! Thanks Jackie!

A great week...


This past week has been so full. 

Full of blessings, thankfulness, laughter, excitement, pure joy, hope & wonder. 

Tuesday: I got a chance to meet up with a dear friend I respect & love. I even played Wii with her adorable son who giggled at everything I said!

In the evening, our life group met & we watched "The Goonies" & had a potluck. It was so much fun laughing with one another at familiar scenes & chatting afterwards about how God is moving in our lives & hopes.

Thursday: I had an interview for an internship here...& I GOT IT! I'll be helping with the curatorial & conservation of the artifacts. So thankful for this one.

Friday: I got a chance to go to Warner Bros. Studios & visit a friend that is interning there. We went on the tour & I got to see Central Perk! A lifelong dream fulfilled...


I also found this painting at a yard sale for $7! I live by this rule: only buy art if you can't imagine your life without it...

Summertime...


How beautiful is summer? So beautiful.

My favorites: 
morning prayer & reading
the smell of freshly cut grass
the taste of fresh "in season" fruit
the sunset at 8 pm
 summer movies: Inception, Toy Story 3, Despicable Me, Twilight Saga: Eclipse
walking Teddy 3x a day
sleeping in on my days off (anything after 530 am)
hanging out with my husband...a lot.
biking everywhere
reading what I want to read, no lame textbooks

My not so favorites:
heat waves
spiders & other summertime creatures that emerge
Teddy's shedding
sweating
the fact summers almost over: school resumes in 24 days

Bridge to Nowhere & Solstice Canyon...

We set out on 2 great hikes this past month in the San Gabriel Valley & Malibu. The first, was to a place called...the bridge to nowhere (dun dun dun!!!) Straight up out of the Twilight Zone, this bridge is literally 5 miles from any other road & is secluded in the San Gabriel Valley. Privately owned, it's even used by Hollywood to film bungee jumping scenes. It was so neat, & super rewarding since the hike was 10 miles round trip.



The second hike we went on was in Solstice Canyon...& it was gorgeous.



we found this little guy right off the path, he was so tiny, just sitting still & panting like crazy. so cute.


We hiked to where a mansion once stood in the canyon, built in the 50's & burnt down in the 80's, it was creepy & lots of fun exploring the surrounding area which included a beautiful waterfall.

May 1st...

Also known as 'the immigration reform day',  L.A hosts a parade of people walking thru downtown protesting their desire for equality for citizenship. This year, I just happened to find myself taking a few photos of the parade while I walked from the MOCA to the Geffen. Enjoy.

These Jacob tees were designed & created by Mitch, Emily & I... silk screened & everything! You will never be able to find them anywhere in the world except for mine & Emily's wardrobe. 





We dragged the boys along... they are secretly in love with Carlisle Cullen & Jasper Hale.
