Pray For Levi...

James got this super cool "pacpack" last week for his birthday! We thought he'd enjoy carrying his own toys, books, + water bottle around with him when we go on outings.

So when I saw this backpack on an Instagram account that was raffling off items for a little boy named Levi that had 3rd degree burns from scalding hot tea that he accidentally spilt on himself, I immediately put a bid in and won!

If you're interested in following the account, praying for sweet Levi, or making a donation to him and his family to help with medical expenses,  the IG name is prayforlevi, or look up the hashtag #prayforlevi.

Daisy Love...

Ever heard of Miss Daisy Love?
It's incredible what God is doing in this sweet girl's life.

First diagnosed with a Wilms tumor at the age of 5, this little warrior has been fighting on.

Today she is battling cancer for the third time, and it's no surprise how much her story has affected people. Her addicting personality mixed with her hope in God's power of healing, is nothing short of inspiring.

"The fragility of Daisy's life and health has kept them constantly looking to Jesus for strength and grace, and He has been their only hope...Daisy and her family are trusting Jesus. But they are also in a battle for Daisy's life. The next steps include chemotherapy and a possible stem cell transplant. Her parents are pursuing both traditional and progressive cancer treatments in America and Israel. The estimated cost not covered by insurance will total close to half a million dollars."

So what does this mean for those of us that believe in the power of God?

A few things:
  1. Prayer for her, and her family.
  2. Donating to The Daisy Merrick Trust.
  3. Taking part in fundraisers dedicated to her.
  4. Did I mention prayer?

Ps- I recently took part in #3 and purchased a bracelet from 31 Bits where 100% of the proceeds will go to The Daisy Merrick Trust. If you want to learn more about them check out 31Bits.com + while you're at it, check out the Blossom Breeze Bracelet for Daisy.

Unique LA...

So waaaaaay back in May (you know, when I was preparing my mind for returning back to work after my glorious 3 months at home with James) Mitch took me to Unique LA as my mother's day gift. Time completely took over & deprived me of a chance to blog about it + the things we bought, so here we go!

Here's a quick description of the design show:

"UNIQUE is the destination for all things Made in America both in-person at our UNIQUE LA/NYC/SF shopping events and here online. Launched in December of 2008, the independent design show UNIQUE LA was created by community leader and designer Sonja Rasula as a way to bring local-made design and art to the masses while helping to grow and support the US economy and small businesses."

Pretty cool, right?

My adorable husband of almost 5 years bought me a wallet from these guys, The Good Flock. Made with Pendleton wool, it's one of my fave gifts for 2 reasons:

 1) The Good Flock is based in Portland Oregon, which reminds me of our vacations we've taken/hopes of living there someday.

2) I thought he bought it for himself, until after he paid for it, he handed it to me and said, "Happy 1st Mother's day". You're crying, aren't you?

I also got a chance to meet Danni Hong, blogger/creative extraordinaire from Oh, Hello Friend. She announced on her blog that she'd be at Unique LA, which sparked my interest in the design show! So special shout out to Danni for being my Aladdin and showing me a "whole new world"! Plus, I got this super sweet necklace from her, because I'm livin' that thugg life and you never know when you need a knife handy...

Lastly, we were so happy to see Chad Eaton had a booth! The artist/designer of TIMBER! If you've ever been to our home you'd recognize his handiwork, "Beard Cabinet", hanging at the end of our hallway. So we bought a couple of his shirts. I mean, who could pass up bearded men on tees? Not I...

There you have it, and if you see anything you adore on this blogpost, I linked their sites to their names. So go buy a wallet, necklace, or tee & help support good ol' American designers!

Daiso...

This past weekend, Mitch took me to a magical land called DAISO JAPAN. You guys...it was SO MUCH FUN! At first I was like, "You wanna go where?", but Mitch was positive I'd love it, especially since he kept saying, "you can buy a bunch of stuff for under $20!".

We spent no less than an hour and a half there, walking the aisles, asking ourselves if we needed this or that. At one point I even thought of DAISO JAPAN as the mall of America for 99 cents stores, accompanied with awesome lighting and cool Japanese music!

So what did we buy, exactly? Here's the list...

  1. CD paper cases (because you can never seem to find a CD case when you really need one!)
  2. Backseat window shades (for the babe)
  3. Pocky! (because it's bomb, duh)
  4. A Japanese fan with sails and stars (yup!)
  5. Air freshener for the car (mango scented)
  6. A mesh bag to hang in the bathroom for James' tub essentials (obviously)
  7. A whiskey + ice tray (trust me on this one)
  8. sponges for the kitchen (8 for $1.50)

So there you have it! If you're in the OC area, hit the store up located here! Have fun and don't put anything back after it's in the cart! Oh, did I mention almost everything is $1.50? Feel free to go bananas now!
